There have been contradicting views on whether artificial intelligence (AI), is here as a friend or a foe of humanity. I believe that it brings with it many positive things, although when used the wrong way, I could be a disaster. Take a look at Amazon, for example, they are already testing their beta drone delivery services, whereby drones deliver orders to the customer’s door steps. AI is here to make life easier and cheaper for us, although this could render some people jobless. In the event ... see more
There has been many debates on whether the encroachment of technology in our daily lives is beneficial or detrimental to the human race. I, just like Mark Zuckerberg, still think Artificial Intelligence is a friend to humanity and human existence.
AI could make life much easier for us just as it has started now. My case for instance, I lost my dad to lung cancer because of late diagnosis. If it were the current times, AI technology could have been used to improve the reading of CT scans and x-r... see more
All the talk about artificial intelligence being the 'end of humanity' has been purely speculation. Thus far, everything related to AI has had benefits for humanity. I think that trend will continue, mainly with the following big two applications of AI:
- Self-driving cars will become prominent in the next 10 years, and have a drastic affect in driving safety. It'll reduce accidents and deaths drastically, and be a huge win for humanity
- AI will have a huge impact on healthcare, medicine, and... see more
AI has had a series of solving 'unsolvable' tasks by computers. Recently, just dominated the best Alpha Go players in the world.. which has always (by critics) considered humans unbeatable by machines in this game. That was proven wrong. AI will continue to beat human expectations and most of these will be for the better of society. Will learn from the machines and still control them.
Technology is advancing everyday and AI is one of them. There are several benefits of AI. Business insider pointed out that AI can contribute to business being more productive by cutting down the time you spend in making basic administrative task. Consumers will also benefit with an AI as the first line in customer services. Cutting down the wait time to talk to a human agent. We need to educate ourselves more of what AI is and not just think of the possible Terminator movie happening
Human beings had no mode of communication before. Gradually, languages were developed. Travelling was a problem and people used to walk for miles. Latterly, man came up with boat to travel through the sea, and now we have cruise too. Cars, aircrafts, radio, television, mobile phones – all are part of development and have made life easier for human beings. Similarly, artificial intelligence will be making life simpler on earth. Artificial Intelligence will be implemented in search and rescue oper... see more
So there's zero proof that AI can/will ever be evil...
Unarguably, technology has integrated itself as a way of life for many, irrespective of race or gender. As to whether it will be beneficial to our societies in the long run or it will prove to elicit grave ramifications, I'm of the strong view that, It’s the human which makes the phenomena positive, negative, friend or foe; when Newton discovered third law of motion it was not meant for developing weapons. Same goes for AI - people can use it for developing medical diagnosis equipment or killing... see more
I would like to call the people who are talking on the opposite side of the poll “a bunch of regressive and selfish people.” Artificial intelligence is going to help people live better lives. Think about the next generations. They would have robots and machines to do their chores and would have access to all the technological advancements. They would be working around 3 hours a day. They will have time to enjoy life. AI will make complex and tiring tasks easy. People come up with arguments that ... see more
Straight out of the mouth of Mr. Musk himself:
This TED Talk by Sam Harris is by far the most convincing argument I've ever heard on the threat of AI to humanity. If you believe in technological progression... It's simply a matter of time
We can't really stop technology from advancing and having these machines or AI do most of the workload to make it easier for humans. Making it more efficient and faster. But how much work can we really pass it on to the machines? As more and more jobs are being taken over by machines, there will be more and more people who will be jobless in the years to come because of it.
Jack Ma has said that human beings, after 50 years would be working just 3 hours a day. However, the future for those who are not fit for the AI wave will be painful. Artificial intelligence is going to take away many jobs in future. Job profiles like driver, waiter and even as fancy as technology or software tester would be taken up by the robots. Artificial intelligence is bringing the doomsday of humanity if not human beings.
Artificial intelligence is going to be man’s biggest enemy invented my man itself. A small part of earth’s massive population who contribute to this evil called AI will have a great life and the others will suffer. I think everyone should get equal opportunity to live and earn money. Robots replacing human beings on the driver’s seat, at restaurants serving food; or even managing the workers in certain project is a concept that I am unable to digest. Artificial intelligence is going to take away... see more
